Paso Robles – Virginia

The Target

Paso Robles, a project located in Virginia, USA, involved the development of an architectural BIM model based on accurately documented existing conditions. Point cloud data was utilized to capture the building with a high level of precision, reducing assumptions and minimizing potential construction discrepancies. The scanned data was imported, and a BIM model was generated directly from the 3D point cloud, allowing validation of key dimensions, elevations, and geometries. During the DD phase, the model incorporated major architectural and structural elements, including walls, slabs, ceilings, cores, and primary building systems. This scan-based approach supported early coordination by identifying clearance and clash issues, particularly within structural and MEP zones, ahead of the CD phase. As a result, the DD drawing set achieved higher accuracy, with fewer RFIs, reduced site surprises, and a more efficient design and coordination process.
